Customs Fees For Importing Leather Shoes To Russia Doubled

Customs fees charged for importing Russian leather shoes doubled. According to market participants, the customs fees payable for each pair of shoes increased by $2.5. Shoe makers said that the price of spring footwear will therefore rise by 10-15%.

According to an internal document from the customs office of the Russian Federation, the Council has stipulated the lowest level of customs valuation of imported goods.

The price range of leather shoes has doubled in the range of risk: the footwear imported from Europe and the United States (excluding high-end brands) is currently priced at a minimum price of $30 per pair, while the shoes imported from China are valued at $21. Footwear duty is 10%, importers will pay $2 for each pair of Chinese leather shoes, while footwear imported from Europe should pay 3 dollars.

An footwear importer explained that if the former wholesalers paid $7 in taxes and customs fees for each pair of shoes, $9.5 would be required for each pair of shoes now.

Experts say that importers can only prove to the customs office through the courtroom that leather shoes priced at $5 are present.

Experts also said that raising the minimum customs fees would cause more importers to operate illegally.
